'Bandslam' bows big

"That's the thing we love about the diversity of film and our ability to work on all sorts of different movies," Friedman said at the fete, held at Napa Valley Grille. "It makes it more interesting and more fun."
Walden Media's Michael Bostick described the pic as a "genuine crowd-pleaser" and even went so far as to liken it to the films of the late John Hughes, who died earlier that day.
"You laughed, you cried, you saw a version of yourself ... and John did it better than anyone else," Bostick said.
