At 6:30, a half-hour past the intended start time, DiCaprio and Warner Bros. prexy Alan Horn finally took the stage at the Frederick P. Rose Theater to welcome the crowd and talk up the Natural Resources Defense Council; both serve as board members, and the preem served as a fund-raiser for the org.
At the Lincoln Center after-party Crowe chatted with Horn and other execs while DiCaprio mingled with his bodyguards in order to ward off a gaggle of teenage girls waiting patiently to greet the star.
Explaining why he decided to team up with Crowe again, helmer Ridley Scott said: "I was going to say it is a nationality thing, but Russell is Australian and I am English. I think there is a similarity in the way we see things and, after all, Australians were English before they became Australians."
