And while a movie with Batman and Robin as Mexican tag-team wrestlers conceivably could be pitched some day, "Nacho Libre" holds the mark for surrealism in the genre, at least for the moment. "It's such an absurd idea -- monk by day, masked wrestler by night," said producer Julia Pistor. "But it's so full of heart."
At the Highlands after-party, Par prexy Gail Berman said the absurdity fits into a tradition. "Paramount has a great history of doing physical comedies, going back to Martin & Lewis," said Berman. "And I love physical comedy."
