With an emphasis on a decidedly different target market from 1998's Antonio Banderas/Catherine Zeta-Jones romantic actioner "The Mask of Zorro," Sony's Sunday afternoon screening for "Z: The Legend of Zorro" was very much a family affair.

Studio topper Amy Pascal, clad in a Zorro-inspired hat and a flowing skirt, showed up with her 5-year-old son, Anthony, and hubbie Bernie Weinraub.

"We wanted to tell a family story. It seemed like the most natural and authentic thing to do," Pascal noted of the pic's new focus, which includes more screentime for Zorro's son.

Downtown L.A. location of the preem, the ornate Orpheum Theater, was chosen for its atmospheric early-California feel, said Sony's Geoff Ammer.

"The first movie was sexy; this movie is about family values," Ammer added, noting the pic got a PG rating.

Ammer and his team are busy targeting auds looking for family fare in between early October's "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" and November's holiday pics.
