MGM launched "Sleepover" at the ArcLight Sunday afternoon with a premiere that at times resembled a preteen beauty contest. The Lion turned the ArcLight's industrial-style space into a giant slumber party for which "fried Twinkies, a scavenger hunt and dancing seemed inevitable," per producer Charles Weinstock.
Add to those youthful pleasures rice crispy treats, manicure stations and enough blasting G-rated hip-hop to fuel a middle-school dance.
"The trick for a party like this is the kids want to be treated like adults and the parents still view them as children," said event designer Jeffrey Best. "Like everything else in Hollywood, it's a delicate balance."
Among adults attending were MGM's Chris McGurk, Danny Rosett, Erik Lomis and Peter Adee; producer Bob Cooper; director Joe Nussbaum; screenwriter Elisa Bell; plus guests Rob Reiner, Ed McMahon, David Paymer, Karl Austen and Katey Sagal.
