Wma Taps Weaving to Co-Head Division

The William Morris Agency has set up a new theatrical touring division to package legit tours for its clients. Susan Weaving, a longtime theatrical booker in New York, has been tapped to co-head the new department.

Weaving, formerly the president of her own Tour de Force Intl. booking firm, was named a VP, and she'll oversee the new venture with Morris VP Clint Mitchell. Weaving will be based in Gotham, Mitchell will remain in Los Angeles. The division will fall under the agency's Personal Appearance wing, although it will operate in tandem with the company's theater division headed by George Lane in New York.

Weaving will bring her roster of clients to the new division, including touring companies of "Fame," the Johnny Mercer revue "Dream" and a new show about Cab Calloway.

Mitchell previously oversaw legit touring without the auspices of a separate division. He packaged Jerry Lewis with "Damn Yankees," the Pointer Sisters with "Ain't Misbehavin,'" and limited tours of legit fare featuring Jackie Mason, Rob Becker, Penn & Teller, and the Irish dance troupe Riverdance.
