Clive

 ((Lord) Hollick)

Clive Hollick used the 1991 auction of ITV franchises to take his money brokering firm, MAI -- of which he's chief executive -- into the broadcast television business.

He now owns two ITV stations, Meridian and Anglia, has a stake in Yorkshire Tyne Tees and is part of a Channel 5 bid. A high-ranking Labor peer, he will wield serious political influence if, as predicted, the British Labor Party wins the next election. But despite reports that he could be in line for a cabinet post, insiders say his real passion is to build MAI into a major European media group. He's financially ruthless and famously tight-fisted and well on the way to achieving his goal.
