Michael de Luca

As president of production at New Line Cinema, Michael De Luca's in charge of the annual 15- to 20-pic production slate. With the company since he joined as an intern 10 years ago, industry insiders say the 29-year-old has one of Holly-wood's keenest minds when it comes to picking projects such as "The Mask" and "Dumb and Dumber."

That may stem from his talent as screenwriter ("In the Mouth of Madness"). But he's also not afraid to spend money in the right places. He both shocked the industry and moved New Line into the major leagues with high-priced deals for thesps such as Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan and Bruce Willis, as well as big-ticket spec scripts and treatments from Shane Black and Joe Eszterhas.
