Tiny Lights left no musical genre unrepresented--except perhaps rap and polka--during its pleasing showcase here Tuesday, incorporating violins, horns and a cello into the eclectic mix of raging guitars, aggressively shifting tempos and soaring vocals.

In town to promote its current Doctor Dream Records release "Stop the Sun, I Want to Go Home," Tiny Lights kept the crowd guessing, mixing repertoire and cover tunes with cuts from current disc.

Vocalist Donna Croughn, a sort of Sally Field (circa "Smokey and the Bandit") look-alike, is a pixied dynamo whose lung power and tenacious stage style deftly blends with the understated, yet stellar guitar interludes of bandmate John Hamilton, ensuring that the Hoboken, N.J.-based band will stand out in an already crowded field.

College radio and New Rock programmers should find much to like about band's fourth outing, with "Better" and several sturdy, brooding ballads among the disc's many highlights.
