Charlton Heston either busy elsewhere or exhausted from earthquakes, World War II and previous aerial disasters, Jack Lemmon assumed the Noah lead in Airport '77. This time around, a giant private jet gets hijacked and crashes off the Florida coast.

The story's formula banality is credible most of the time and there's some good actual US Navy search and rescue procedure interjected in the plot.

The story peg here [by H.A.L. Craig and Charles Kuenstle] has James Stewart, billionaire who has converted his home to museum status, loading his private plane with priceless paintings and a broader quality of people for a junket to the estate. However, Lemmon's copilot Robert Foxworth has joined with Monte Markham and Michael Pataki to hijack the plane for the artwork.
