Relationship between him and a young, flighty and vivacious girl (Angharad Rees) who temporarily prevents him from carrying out his project is touchingly told as director Peter Crane plays off each of the antipodic characters. At times characterization of the man, though always believable, is too turgid and self-conscious; his poses of internal suffering are a trifle too histrionic and become wearisome.
