Despite technical flaws, this item comes across as a sincere and often moving film. Yarn probes into man's loneliness and the dead-end meaninglessness of a middle-aged accountant (Keith Michell) who, after 20 years at his job and after the death of his wife and children in a car crash, decides to return to a resort hotel in the off-season where he had once lived happy moments, and put an end to his life.

Relationship between him and a young, flighty and vivacious girl (Angharad Rees) who temporarily prevents him from carrying out his project is touchingly told as director Peter Crane plays off each of the antipodic characters. At times characterization of the man, though always believable, is too turgid and self-conscious; his poses of internal suffering are a trifle too histrionic and become wearisome.
