Jenny Agutter plays a schoolgirl, adopted, who worships her elder 'brother' who, unwittingly, has become a father-figure in the household. A series of local sex crimes strikes a sinister note and from slender clues (neatly produced as red herrings) the girl suspects that her worshipped brother is the perpetrator.

Her friend (Clare Sutcliffe) is an extroverted little chippie, pert, provocative and pathetic in the way that she tries to kid everybody that she's sexually experienced. Agutter, who tries to keep up with the fantasy, is the more believable but perhaps the less amusing character.

The two kids spend much time in the condemned house in which Agutter used to live. It's bang in the middle of woods which is the danger area operated by the sex-maniac.
