This one has totally innocent monk Marty Feldman cast out into the mean and nasty world to raise some quick cash to keep his monastery in business. He ends up on Hollywood Blvd. Object of his search is outrageous TV evangelist Armageddon T. Thunderbird (Andy Kaufman) who puts off the meek man of God before taking him in as a partner, only to later turn against him when Feldman wins the ear of G.O.D. (Richard Pryor). At the same time, Feldman takes a tumble or two with gold-hearted prostie Mary (Louise Lasser).
Beneath all the strained attempts at humor, there's a germ of sweetness in Feldman's innocent led astray, but as a director he's unable to give it any play. Nor does he do any favors for the remainder of the cast. Technically, film is a near-shambles.
