Beatty elopes with Channing but, not yet free of a former wife, Nicholson actually marries her. Trio sets up housekeeping in Los Angeles, and after Channing is disinherited, the guys try to kill her. If lugging around a passed-out intoxicated girl in clumsy murder attempts does not offend sensibilities, then the alleged fun may be passable.
David Shire superbly recreates some old Joe Venuti-Eddi Lang jazz band arrangements.
