Mastroianni is a London boutique owner who, happening to be fourth in succession to the Throne of All the Russians, hits on the idea of lifting the Imperial Jewels which he figures belong to him, anyway.
He rustles up a gang of eyeworthy and skilful young femme crooks, cons the authorities into letting his girls wear the rocks at a charity fashion show but then runs into trouble as things go wrong.
Mastroianni is clearly not happy with his role in which he's too often the stooge, but the gals around him are good fun.
Femme star Rita Tushingham plays a nutty, Liverpool-Irish safecracker, who eventually gets the hero, but the part's skimpily developed and it's hardly Tushingham's league.
