Plot peg is the truck accident of philandering husband Charles Napier, who's got Ann Wedgeworth in Dallas and Marcia Rodd in Portland, both with homes and children.

While he is recovering at the hands of Alix Elias (whose charms are mobile), the two suspicious women arrive in a small town where Paul Le Mat and estranged brother Bruce McGill are both courting Candy Clark. Roberts Blossom is the boy's irascible widower-father. Linking all their lives is the CB radio, buzzing away like a verbal Muzak.

The CB dialog exemplifies the good-natured horsing around that marks those channels, at the same time the serious emergency traffic that often saves lives.
