Breakout is a cheap exploitation pic with Charles Bronson as a carefree aviator who rescues Robert Duvall from the Mexican prison frameup engineered by his father-in-law, John Huston. Jill Ireland, Duvall's wife, wants him back badly.

The spitball plot [from the novel The Second Jailbreak by Warren Hinckle, William Turner and Eliot Asinof] is the sort of thing Columbia made before Frank Capra. Director Tom Gries and the entire cast perform as though they all had better things to do.

(Color) Widescreen. Available on VHS, DVD. Extract of a review from 1975. Running time: 96 MIN.
