Going for a splash doesn't always require being on the guest list

"Water is very soothing," says Amanda Scheer Demme of the Tropicana Bar at the Hotel Roosevelt. "Outside and poolside combines for a really great environment for socializing. It feels like a vacation and it calms people down." Unless, of course, you're not allowed to get near the pool. As Demme's discovered, that's when people get really cranky. However, Los Angeles has plenty of hotel pools and many don't use guest lists like the Roosevelt's Tropicana and the Mondrian's Skybar do. Here's V Life Weekend's rundown, ranked in reverse order: from uptight to laid-back.
