'Calendar' gets date with AFI Film Festival

Event will include two gala world preems

The 2003 AFI Intl. Film Festival will open Nov. 6 in Los Angeles with the North American premiere of Nigel Cole's "Calendar Girls" and close Nov. 16 with the world preem of "Monster," starring Charlize Theron and directed by American Film Institute graduate Patty Jenkins.

Fest will include two centerpiece gala world premieres with Vadim Perelman's "House of Sand and Fog" Nov. 9 and Norman Jewison's "The Statement" Nov. 12.

These films will screen at the Cinerama Dome at the ArcLight Hollywood.

Other films confirmed for the festival include Denys Arcand's "Barbarian Invasions," the U.S. bow of Jean-Paul Rappeneau's "Bon Voyage," Ross McElwee's "Bright Leaves," Robert Altman's "The Company," Errol Morris' "The Fog of War," Gabriele Salvatores' "I'm Not Scared," Jim Sheridan's "In America," Ra'anan Alexandrowicz's "James' Journey to Jerusalem," Sue Brooks' "Japanese Story" starring Toni Collette, Siddiq Barmak's "Osama," Jan Jakob Kolski's "Pornography," Jesper Jargil's "The Purified" and Sylvain Chomet's "The Triplets of Belleville."
