'Hollywood Reporter' editor Brennan dies
International editor worked at trade for 20 years
Ireland-born reporter and editor Steve Brennan, who had a 20-year career at the Hollywood Reporter, died of cancer Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 57.Brennan worked for the Reporter first as a freelancer, then as a reporter covering syndication and international TV. In the last few years, he served as international editor.
He began his career at Independent Newspapers in Dublin, reporting on subjects ranging from the unrest in Northern Ireland to the entertainment business. A familiar figure at industry tradeshows such as NATPE, Mip, Mipcom and Cannes, Brennan was known for his good humor and dedication to Irish topics.
His book "Emeralds in Tinseltown: The Irish in Hollywood" was published in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette O'Neill.
