'Hooked' goes primetime on Nat Geo

Fishing show will air regularly on Monday nights

National Geographic has given global fishing show "Hooked" a permanent spot on its primetime schedule, highlighting the cabler's slate of summer programming.

"Hooked," which averaged 1.8 million total viewers as a recurring special from 2006 through February, will air regularly Mondays at 10 p.m. beginning June 29. Hosted by aquatic ecologist Zeb Hogan, the series simultaneously explores how different cultures approach fishing (and underwater conservation) while highlighting the most dramatic catches.

NatGeo also announced season premiere dates for returning series "World's Toughest Fixes" (10 episodes starting June 4) and "Locked Up Abroad" (six episodes starting July 15).

Specials on the network this summer will be highlighted by the June 5 "Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand," a documentary about the wonders of Earth and the need to preserve them. "Home" is produced by Luc Besson, narrated by Glenn Close and directed by Arthus-Bertrand, who filmed in 54 countries entirely from a birds-eye view.

Other specials to air on NatGeo will include "Secrets of Angkor," "America's Wild Spaces," "Hunting the Anthrax Killer," "Drain the Ocean" and "Great Escape: The Final Secrets."
