Flu forces studios to shuffle slates
Majors shift release dates in Mexico
Studios continue to rearrange their summer release schedules in Mexico, where the flu outbreak has shut down cinemas.Sony will now open "Angels and Demons" on June 12. Film is opening day-and-date almost everywhere else on May 15.
Sony also is relocating "Terminator Salvation" from June 5 to July 31 in Mexico. Studio is distributing "Terminator" internationally, Warner Bros. domestically.
Twentieth Century Fox, the studio most immediately impacted by the flu outbreak, decided last weekend to postpone the opening of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in Mexico. Film opens today day-and-date in most territories around the globe.
It plans to launch "Wolverine" in Mexico on May 15, the situation permitting.
Meanwhile, Paramount is pushing back the launch of "Star Trek." Film will open day-and-date everywhere else on May 8. Par hasn't announced a new date for Mexico.
