'TMZ' show renewed by WB
Tabloid series picked up for two more years
It’s bad news for Lindsay, Britney and company as tabloid strip “TMZ” has been renewed for two more years.Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution has cleared “TMZ” on the Fox Television Stations group through the 2010-11 season, keeping the show on the air in top markets including New York (WNYW), Los Angeles (KTTV) and Chicago (WFLD).
Deal was announced Tuesday by WBDTD prexy Ken Werner and Fox TV Stations programming senior VP Frank Cicha.
Produced by Telepictures Prods., along with Harvey Levin Prods. and ParaMedia, “TMZ” is based on the hugely successful TMZ.com website launched in 2005 as a joint venture between Telepictures and AOL.
According to Warner Bros., “TMZ” -- now in its second season -- is the No. 2 entertainment mag with adults 18-49.
“TMZ” has “managed to do what few new shows have done over the last few years: create a unique viewer experience and deliver ratings,” Werner said.
Harvey Levin and Jim Paratore exec produce “TMZ,” while Hilary Estey McLoughlin is president of Telepictures Prods.
