MGM picks up 'Vibes'

Studio aquires rights to Ryan novel

MGM has acquired Amy Kathleen Ryan's young adult novel "Vibes" and tapped "Nancy Drew" screenwriter Tiffany Paulsen to adapt.

Lynda Obst and Marc Rosen of Rosen-Obst are producing.

Comedy centers on a popular 17-year-old cheerleader whose reality is turned upside down when she wakes up with the power to read minds and learns what everyone really thinks of her.

Book was published last month by Houghton Mifflin.

Paulsen recently penned for Disney a sequel to "Adventures in Babysitting" that Obst is also producing, as well as the family adventure "Rocket Ship" for producers Arnold and Anne Kopelson.
