Rogen, Showtime team on comedy
Network greenlights series for 2009
Seth Rogen is looking to make a porno-based comedy for Showtime.Rogen and production partner Evan Goldberg are developing a comedy series for the pay cabler about three twentysomethings who learn about life and love while running a pornography shop.
Rogen and Goldberg will exec produce the as-yet untitled project.
Matthew Bass, who is credited as an assistant to both comedy filmmakers on "Pineapple Express" and "Superbad," will pen the script and co-exec produce.
Rogen, who stars in Kevin Smith's recently released "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," is also working with Goldberg on Mandate Pictures comedy "Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse."
Among a number of cablers who are active on the development side, Showtime already has several comedies greenlit to series for next year, including "Nurse Jackie" starring Edie Falco and "United States of Tara" from scribe Diablo Cody.
Showtime plans to bow "Tara" Jan. 18, along with the season premieres of "The L Word" and "Call Girl."
