Whoopi makes deal with Discovery

Development pact includes partner Leonardis

Whoopi Goldberg has inked a development deal with Discovery Emerging Networks.

Under her production shingle Whoop Inc., Goldberg will develop series for Investigation Discovery and Science Channel with partner Tom Leonardis.

The pact includes a proviso that at least one of Goldberg and Leonardis' ideas be greenlit.

"Since I'm really curious about the world, what better place for Tom and me to exercise this interest than at Discovery?" Goldberg said.

In addition to Goldberg's short-lived, eponymous 2003-04 NBC laffer, Whoop Inc. has produced the Lifetime skein "Strong Medicine"; telepics "Ruby's Bucket of Blood" and "Call Me Claus"; and feature "The Piano Man's Daughter."
