CBS Paramount options 'Pavement'

TV series based on Judi McCoy mystery novels

CBS Paramount Network TV has optioned "Hounding the Pavement," first in a series of mystery novels by Judi McCoy. Jeffrey Kramer at Juniper Place Productions will produce.

The book will be published by Penguin paperback imprint Obsidian Mysteries in March. The first volume in a three-book deal -- McCoy says she has a dozen planned -- "Hounding the Pavement" follows a Manhattan dogwalker who must discover who murdered her client by talking -- and listening -- to her canine charges.

Attached to adapt the project for the smallscreen is Hy Conrad, a writer on "Monk" and a mystery writer himself.

McCoy is best known for her romance novels, including the "Goddess" and "Starlight" series.
