Corsini may leave KCBS for KTLA
Station vet under contract through end of year
Don Corsini is poised to resign as prexy and g.m. of CBS' Los Angeles O&Os KCBS/KCAL.Biz insiders have been chattering for months about the possibility of Corsini heading over to Tribune Co.'s KTLA-TV Los Angeles, where the g.m. post has been vacant since February (Daily Variety, Feb. 20).
Tribune execs are known to have been courting Corsini, but the L.A. station vet is under contract to KCBS/KCAL through the end of this year. He might also opt to return to his roots in news and programming and hang out his own production shingle.
It's expected that Corsini will be succeeded at KCBS/KCAL by station manager Patrick McClenahan.
Corsini could not be reached for comment late Tuesday. A CBS spokesman declined comment on the matter.
Corsini has held the reins of KCBS/KCAL since the stations merged in mid-2002, following CBS' acquisition of KCAL. Corsini had headed KCAL for six years prior to the sale to CBS, and before that worked in programming at ABC O&O KABC Los Angeles.
