Final episode to air on Nov. 25
Vic Mackey will beat up his last bad guy on Nov. 25.FX has set an air date for the final episode of “The Shield,” which begins its seventh and final season Sept. 2.
Cabler is planning to give a big buildup to the finale of the show that put the network on the map as a player in original programming. FX has shot retrospective material and a roundtable discussion on the relevance of the show with the cast and crew, and hosted by Elvis Mitchell.
“The Shield,” created by Shawn Ryan, bowed in March 2002 to solid ratings and stellar reviews.
Following its first season, the show earned plenty of kudo hardware, taking home Golden Globes for drama and actor Michael Chiklis. Later that year, Chiklis won the Emmy, making him the first lead actor to win for a basic cable series.
FX is using “The Shield” as a launching pad for its newest series, “Sons of Anarchy,” the turbulent life of a family running with a motorcycle gang. It begins Sept. 3.
