Foxtel, Showtime in TV 'Tangle'

Duo commission new drama

SYDNEY -- Australian pay TV platform Foxtel and local production company Showtime Australia have commissioned a new drama, "Tangle," about the tangled lives of parents, their teenagers and the shifting moral compass of modern life.

The 10 one-hour dramas will be produced by John Edwards and Imogen Banks, exec producer will be Southern Star topper Hugh Marks and Showtime's Kim Vecera.

The paybox launched a string of shows about 18 months ago. Most met with critical acclaim and some, like brothel-set "Satisfaction," achieved good overseas sales.

"Showtime Australia will have produced 38 hours of premium TV drama" in 2007 and 2008, said topper Peter Rose. "With 'Love My Way,' 'Satisfaction' and now 'Tangle' we are honoring our commitment to our viewers to bring them the best drama Australia has to offer."

Production on "Tangle" will start in Melbourne in September and will bow on premium channel Showcase in 2009.
