Horvitz to direct Primetime Emmys
Awards veteran last helmed telecast in 2006
Louis J. Horvitz will help usher in the Primetime Emmy Awards' Nokia Theater era.Horvitz has been tapped to direct the kudofest, something he's already done 13 times before. Primetime Emmys exec producer Ken Ehrlich announced the appointment Thursday.
Horvitz, who has won five Emmys, last helmed the Primetime Emmys in 2006. He most recently directed "The 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards" on Sunday as well as the Oscarcast (his 12th time) in February.
Director helmed his 16th edition of "The Kennedy Center Honors" in December and is set for his 16th go-round on the "American Film Institute Life Achievement Award" cablecast June 12.
The Primetime Emmy Awards air live on ABC from downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 21 starting at 8 p.m.
