Dylan McDermott gets 'Mercy'

Scott Caan to produce, co-star in indie romance

Dylan McDermott and Scott Caan will star in indie romancer "Mercy," produced by Caan with Vincent Palomino and Phil Parmet.

Alexie Gilmore, Erika Christensen, Troy Garity and John Boyd also star. Director Patrick Hoelck begins production Monday in Los Angeles.

Story, penned by Caan, centers on a successful but cynical young novelist who writes about love but doesn't believe in it until he falls in love for the first time. Project's the first film from the independent production company newly formed by Caan and Hoelck.

Caan next will be seen in "Meet Dave" with Eddie Murphy. His other produced features are "Dallas 362" and "The Dog Problem," in which he starred and directed.
