CBS Films nabs Fogelman pitch

Story follows semi-retired boomers in Vegas

CBS Films has paid $1 million for Dan Fogelman's untitled boomers-in-Vegas comedy pitch.

Story revolves around four semi-retired baby boomers who embark on a getaway to Sin City. Fogelman's pitch sparked a bidding war -- one of the first significant heats since scribes returned to work last month.

Deal marks the third project that CBS Films has put into development since its formation last year. The nascent mini-studio also is developing a potential franchise based on a series of bestselling action-thrillers penned by Vince Flynn, and "Beastley," a modern-day retelling of the "Beauty and the Beast" story set in a New York City high school and based on Alex Flinn's novel.

When Amy Baer took the reins as prexy-CEO of CBS Films in September, she pledged to develop a broad and diverse slate. With a baby boomer comedy on the fast track added to an action thriller and fairy tale in development, Baer is keeping that commitment.

Fogelman's credits include the Vince Vaughn starrer "Fred Claus" and Pixar's "Cars."
