Independent Film Co. makes 'Nice'

Company also backs Jobson film

Maverick writer/director Bernard Rose has teamed with U.K. sales and production outfit Independent Film Co. for his two latest projects — “The Kreutzer Sonata” and “Mr Nice.”

“The Kreutzer Sonata,” starring Danny Huston in a tragic tale of marital jealousy, has already been completed. Producers are Naomi Despres and Lisa Enos.

Independent is handling international sales, with ICM’s Jeff Berg lining up the U.S. deal.

Rose will next shoot “Mr Nice,” based on the autobiography of upper-crust British drug smuggler Howard Marks, which Independent’s Luc Roeg will produce.

Independent is also in pre-production on Richard Jobson’s “New Town Killers,” a Scottish chase thriller starring Dougray Scott, to shoot in March.
