Lachey makes 'Dance' move
Season two 'Stars' winner to host 'War'
ABC's midseason dance-off has a new title -- "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann" -- and a newly named host. The producers didn't have to look far for their emcee: Former boy band member Drew Lachey, who won season two of "Dancing With the Stars," will host "Dance War."
Show features "Dancing With the Stars" judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba as they form rival performance groups (Daily Variety, July 19). Team Bruno and Team Carrie will then face off week to week in various song and dance battles.
"Dance Wars" is based on the hit U.K. skein "Dance X" and comes from "Dancing With the Stars" producer BBC Worldwide America.
ABC has picked up six episodes of the show, which will air this winter -- likely bridging the gap between the season's two "Dancing With the Stars" cycles.
Lachey, once a member of late '90s group 98 Degrees, has hosting experience, having headlined the 2006 Miss USA pageant.
