Women in Film, GM offer grants

Prize will be awarded to five female filmmakers

The Women in Film organization and General Motors have announced the second annual Acceleration Grant for Emerging Filmmakers.

The grant will be presented to five up-and-coming female filmmakers chosen by a WIF committee of professional filmmakers and entertainment industry executives.

The WIF/GM alliance will present the grant this fall along with the previously announced Opening Doors/Abriendo Puertas: The Acceleration Grant for Emerging Latina Filmmakers.

As part of the grant, a six-day, full-immersion mentoring program will follow for all recipients. Honorees will take individual and group meetings with film industry professionals, studio executives, film and television distributors and international sales agents as part of the grant's goal to "provide talented women pursuing careers in entertainment with creative foundation for success."

The submission deadline is Aug. 31.
