Roundabout confirms 'Kiss'
Mahoney stars in Sullivan-directed production
The Roundabout Theater Company confirmed its next production at the American Airlines Theater will be a revival of Craig Lucas' fantasy-romance "Prelude to a Kiss." John Mahoney ("Frasier") toplines under the direction of Daniel Sullivan ("Rabbit Hole," "Proof").Mahoney will be joined by Annie Parisse ("Law & Order"), Alan Tudyk ("Serenity") and Robin Bartlett.
Play originated at Off Broadway's Circle Rep in 1990, with Mary-Louise Parker and Alec Baldwin in the young-lover roles that will be played by Parisse and Tudyk. "Prelude" moved to Broadway that year, and in 1992 Baldwin appeared in the movie version that also starred Meg Ryan.
The Roundabout's incarnation of the play came together quickly, after two other revivals -- the originally announced "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and a potential production of Harold Pinter's "Old Times" -- failed to come together.
"Prelude" begins previews Feb. 16 for a March 8 opening.
