ESPN's 'Dream' endures

Second season of reality show OK'd

NEW YORK -- ESPN has renewed the on-air talent search "Dream Job" for a second season.

Show follows aspiring sportscasters as they compete for a yearlong gig hosting ESPN staple "SportsCenter." College senior Mike Hall won the job in the first season after edging contestants in such categories as play-by-play, sideline reporting, one-on-one interviews and highlight voiceovers.

Skein bowed to 1.1 million overall viewers in February, maintaining an average of 1 million throughout its six-seg run.

ESPN will look for the next anchor for "SportsCenter" when the next six-episode season of "Dream Job" launches in January.

" 'Dream Job's' success showed us that our viewers are receptive to the reality show genre when it's done the right way," said ESPN exec veep of programming and production Mark Shapiro. "The overwhelming consensus is that viewers want the chance to decide who we put on our air, and we enjoy giving it to them."
