Cowboy ropes Toback pic

'Harvard' opens June 14 in Gotham

NEW YORK -- Cowboy Pictures will release James Toback's "Harvard Man," which screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Pic opens June 14 in Gotham before rolling out nationally.

"Harvard Man" follows a Harvard basketball student indulging in life's vices -- illicit sex, drugs and high-stakes gambling. Tempted by a cheerleader who's also a mobster's daughter, the student finds himself in danger of losing a lot more than his scholarship.

Toback ("Black & White") was nominated for a screenwriting Academy Award for "Bugsy."

"James Toback is a truly original voice in cinema today," Cowboy Pictures prexy John Vanco said.

Cowboy Pictures has in release George Butler's "The Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition," Academy Award nominee "Promises," Chris Smith's "Home Movie" and Shohei Imamura's "Warm Water Under a Red Bridge."
