Mutual, Cobalt pact for 'Timeline'

Crichton actioner stars O'Connor, Walker, Butler

CANNES -- Mutual Film Group and Cobalt Media Group have teamed to acquire distribution in selected international territories on Paramount Pictures' "Timeline," which will be directed by Richard Donner.

The film's international distribution will be divided between several of Mutual's territory partners, Cobalt and Paramount via UIP.

The actioner stars Frances O'Connor, Paul Walker and Gerard Butler. Pic, an adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel of the same name with a screenplay penned by George Molfi, revolves around a group of graduate students who travel to 14th-century France on a mission to rescue their history professor, who is trapped there. Donner produces with Lauren Shuler Donner.

Pic is being produced by APG for a 2003 release and is currently shooting in Canada.

Roger Guyett, who created major sequences for Warner Bros.' "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" serves as the visual f/x supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic.
