Northam joins 'Gloria' cast

Brit thesp Jeremy Northam is set to star opposite Sharon Stone in Sidney Lumet's remake of "Gloria" for Mandalay Entertainment.

Northam also joins George C. Scott, Cathy Moriarty and Bonnie Bedelia in the cast.

"Gloria" is a remake of John Cassavetes' 1980 film starring Gena Rowlands. Pic, which will be distributed by Columbia Pictures, will begin production this fall in New York.

A former member of the Royal Shakespeare Co., Northam cut his chops in Hollywood in 1995 by starring opposite Sandra Bullock in "The Net." Since then, he has co-starred in "Emma" with Gwyneth Paltrow and currently appears in Miramax/Dimension's "Mimic."

Northam next will appear in Steven Spielberg's holiday release, "Amistad" for DreamWorks.

Northam was repped on the deal by ICM's Chris Andrews and Michael Foster.
