The first response to Steven Soderbergh's four-hour, 18-minute Spanish-language "Che" Wednesday night ranged from rapturous to dismissive after the gala premiere and simultaneous press screening.

Soderbergh stayed only briefly at the jammed after-party at the Murano nightclub outside of town. Some revelers were jumping back on shuttle buses as fast as they arrived.

Fest jurors Alfonso Cuaron, Marjane Satrapi and Rachid Bouchareb were trapped in the scrum trying to get into the party, but swiftly joined cast members Julia Ormond, Benicio Del Toro, Demian Bechir and Rodrigo Santoro in the VIP section just above the insanely packed dance floor, as well as Soderbergh's manager, Anonymous Content's Michael Sugar; producer Laura Bickford; Tim Robbins; and Sony Pictures Classics co-prexies Michael Barker and Tom Bernard.
