Madonna to show film at Traverse

Michael Moore to host Material Girl

'I Am Because We Are'
Madonna is set to present her Malawi documentary `I Am Because We Are' at Michael Moore's Traverse City film festival in Michigan on Aug. 2.
Madonna will present her docu on the devastated country of Malawi, “I Am Because We Are,” at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan.

The Material Girl will take time off of rehearsals for her upcoming “Hard Candy” tour to attend the Aug. 2 gala screening in Traverse’s State Theater.

Produced by Madonna and directed by Nathan Rissman, “I Am Because We Are” preemed at Tribeca.

“I saw her film a month ago and was so deeply moved in a way that rarely happens with movies these days,” Moore said. “I asked her immediately if she would come to our festival, and she said yes. Her presence here in Traverse City will have a profound impact on people.”

Founded in 2005 by Moore, the Traverse fest emphasizes foreign films, American independents and documentaries. It runs July 29-Aug. 3.
