Laurent Cantet's 'Class' sells well

Italy's Mikado, Spain's Golem among buyers

“The Class” (Entre les murs) has generated spirited early Cannes sales. Memento, the Paris-based sales and distribution company, sold the Laurent Cantet-helmed film’s rights to Italy’s Mikado, Spain’s Golem, Greece’s Ama Films, Benelux’s Cineart, MegaCom for the former Yugoslavia, Brazil’s Imovision, U.K.’s Curzon Artificial Eye, Korea’s Jinjin and United King in Israel.

Pic chronicles the experience of a high school professor in a poor neighborhood who’s dedicated to use every means necessary to motivate his students to value their education.

Memento also sold rights to the drama “Bonnie and Lucy” to Turkey’s Mars Production.

The film, which had its world premiere in Un Certain Regard, stars Michelle Williams and Will Patton.
