The two-way interview between the 61-year-old helmer of “Meatballs,” “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters,” and his 30-year-old son, who helmed indie darling “Juno,” will take place July 17 at the Hyatt Regency in Montreal as part of the fest’s newly launched Just Comedy business event.
“This is a dream pairing for us because Jason screened four short movies at Comedia (Just for Laughs’ film showcase) before getting the attention of Hollywood,” said Bruce Hills, chief operating officer of Just for Laughs. “Ivan was tributed here in 1996, when he was given the Roots of Canadian Comedy Award, and he has been an influential player in comedy filmmaking for 40 years and counting.”
The two-day Just Comedy business confab will feature key players in the comedy world. As previously announced, Judd Apatow will be honored as person of the year.
The 26th edition of Just for Laughs will take place July 10-20.
