'Lamb of God' to open Rotterdam
Film joins competition lineup
As well as making its world bow, pic will compete with 14 others for the fest's VPRO Tiger awards.
Set during Argentina's economic crisis of 2002, "Lamb of God" concerns the kidnapping of 77-year-old Arturo, an event that forces his daughter Teresa to return to Buenos Aires after 22 years of exile abroad.
"Lucia Cedron’s film stands out as an exceptionally accomplished feature film debut," said fest header Rutger Wolfson. "It shows the connections between very personal stories and family histories and the political and historical events of her country in an intelligent, controlled and, finally, emotional way.”
Cedron picked up a Sundance/NHK international filmmaker award for the project last year, as well as receiving coin from IFFR's Hubert Bals fund. Lita Stantic produces.
