Capri lines up Hollywood talent

Festival is chaired by Mark Canton

ROME — Lindsay Lohan, Alfonso Arau, Dennis Hopper, John Malkovich, Freddie Highmore, Steven Zaillian and Hayden Panettiere are among the latest additions to the long list of career recognition recipients expected on the isle of Capri for the 12th annual Capri, Hollywood Film Festival, Dec. 27-Jan. 2.

Glam event is chaired this year by producer Mark Canton who will be bringing sneak-preview footage of the first instalment in Paramount’s family franchise “The Spiderwick Chronicles.”

As for other filmic fare, the Italo preems of “Gone Baby Gone,” “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” and “P.S. I Love You” are among titles unspooling in Capri’s weeklong non-competitive showcase.

Copious confabs will include “The Hollywood Model: Ideas For Italy,” and a panel on Italy’s upcoming tax breaks expected to usher equity movie financing in the country.

“We want Capri to be a bridgehead between the Italian and the U.S. film industries,” said festival topper Pascal Videdomini at the event’s Rome presser.
