Film won Canadian award at Toronto festival

IFC has picked up Guy Maddin's "My Winnipeg," which won an award for Canadian feature at the Toronto Film Festival.

Maddin, sometimes called the David Lynch of the North, has devotees around the world. His recent pics include "The Saddest Music in the World" and "Brand Upon the Brain!"

Maddinites flocked during Toronto to "Winnipeg," which the helmer describes as a "docu-fantasia" about his hometown.

IFC bought the pic from Maximum Films.
