A new broadcast station in Ireland wrapped up its first programming supply deal with Hollywood studios at last week's NATPE confab, buying a package of TV series from CBS Paramount Intl. TV. Other deals with other Hollywood heavyweights are in the works. The newly christened Channel 6 will launch across Ireland in March

What do foodie Rachael Ray, sitcom star Megan Mullally and Hispanic legal eagle Maria Lopez all have in common? They're all fronting potential firstrun strips for U.S. station carriage in 2006, and all three will be glad-handing with attendees at the 43rd annual NATPE confab.

If Rachael Ray can do to the talkshow biz what's she's done with a bundt cake, she'll be in good shape. The Food Network personality heads to NATPE, as both Harpo Prods. and King World are working together to make Ray the next big thing in daytime.
Dominating the global television sports scene in 2006 will be the World Cup, which begins in June. The Latin
audience will certainly be interested in Brazil, left, and Argentina, who met last year in the finals of the Confederations Cup.
Shoppers' delight
NATPE can once again expect a strong influx of Latin buyers and sellers to the Vegas venue. With the worst of their economic crises a distant memory, Latino broadcasters will be trawling the confab for the latest and trendiest programming to supplement their staple of movies and skeins.

When the confab closes
The arrival of the Wynn Las Vegas in 2005 has meant an influx of chefs, clubs and shows and forced the competition to spruce up, even if it means bringing in new talent. And since last year's NATPE, the Vegas nightclub scene has received an even greater infusion from the two coasts.
