Sundance lights on eight
Filmmakers found for docu lab

Sundance Institute has selected eight participants for the annual documentary film editing and story lab, which runs today through Friday at Sundance, Utah.

The eight fellows are helmer Maria Teresa Larrain and editor Ricardo Acosta ("The Trial of Pascual Pichun") (Chile); directors Senain Kheshgi and Geeta Patel and editor Billy McMillin ("Project Kashmir") (U.S.); helmer-editor Aaron Matthews ("The Paper") (U.S.); and directors Shari Robertson and Michael Camerini ("My American Dream") (U.S.).

At the Lab, fellows will explore elements of story and character development in relation to their evolving rough cuts while working with six documentarians (four editors and two directors) who will serve as creative advisers.

The four editing advisers are Kate Amend ("The Long Way Home"), Jean-Philippe Boucicaut ("American Blackout"), Richard Hankin ("Capturing the Friedmans") and Mary Lampson ("Harlan County, USA").

Carlos Bolado ("Solo Dios Sabe") and Anne Makepeace ("Rain in a Dry Land) are the directing advisers.
